Road Trip to Florida, Day 1

I adore road trips. Right now, my husband, Ginny, and I are on a road trip to visit my family in Jacksonville, Florida.  We spent about 11 hours on the road today (between leaving the house and getting into our hotel room). This same leg of the trip only took us 9.5 hours last year. Having a baby on a trip changes how long a normal road trip takes.  Now we need to make multiple stops for diaper changes and feedings. Between those stops and taking a long lunch break, it took us a while to get to Dalton, Georgia. Luckily, Ginny was a great little traveler. It was only in the last 20 minutes of the drive that she began expressing frustration.

Now, we are at our hotel for the evening. My right hip and back are sore. Chris is watching T.V.  Ginny is sleeping in her crib.  It is nice and quiet. We are resting up for tomorrow.

Early tomorrow morning, we will all wake up, get dressed and repacked quickly so that we can hit the road again. I really am looking forward to it.  We plan to be on the road no later than 7 a.m.  In Atlanta, we will stop for breakfast at the OK Cafe with my friend Angela.  Angela and I met our freshman year at KU in English 101. She and I reconnected on Facebook. This will be the first time we've seen each other in over 18 years.

The best part of tomorrow will be arriving in Jacksonville to see my family. Luckily, tomorrow should be a shorter travel day (especially since we won't have any time change like we had today), and the weather is supposed to be nicer. Instead of the cloud cover and rain of today, we should have sunny skies ahead.
